One goal of undergraduate nursing education is to develop competency in statistics interpretation. This competency requires adequate knowledge and skill to read and analyze the merits of research studies, quality assurance data, and patient data. The literature suggests that RNs may lack undergraduate, entry-to-practice competencies regarding statistical analysis. The purpose of our study was to explore B.Sc.N. alumni nurses’ perspectives on their statistics education and its application to practice. Using a mixed-methods including a) quantitative surveys (n=240) (e.g., demographic data and stats course experience questionnaire) b). qualitative (n=36) (one-on- one individual telephone interviews). The qualitative study revealed two themes a) Nursing Valued Statistics because using statistics Increase nursing image and empower them; b) Nurses did not feel comfortable using Statistics because nurses’ education did not link statistics to practice also the workplace did not support nurses using statistics. This presentation will further discuss nurses’ suggestions for change and explore various future implications.en_US
