Abstract: Food preferences are influenced by genetic and environmental factors such as taste, perceived health benefits, cultural habits and social experiences. Understanding the influence of sex and ethnicity on food preferences can help tailor dietary counseling strategies for diverse ethnic populations to prevent the risk of developing chronic diseases. It can also lead to the understanding of consumer food choices and development of ethnic specific food products for optimal nutrition.
