dc.description.abstractThe George Brown College (GBC) Research Labs conducts applied research with industry and community partners on health, health information technologies, and health promotion. We offer a multidisciplinary collaborative approach to problem-solving and opportunity development for healthcare partners, including Innovation Support Services that help accelerate the innovation-to-market cycle. Participatory and human centred design precepts guide our applied R&D work in collaboration with SMEs, larger companies, health care agencies and other research institutes. In so doing, we help foster adoption of new devices and systems, better patient outcomes as well as adaptation and integration of new technologies/practices into health care and health promotion. This presentation will showcase projects from the GBC Research Labs that use this approach to the design of new products, processes and clinical protocols. Robert Luke, Ph.D., is Assistant Vice President of Research and Innovation for George Brown College. He has responsibility for applied research focusing on industry needs and productivity, and institutional research focusing on innovations in teaching and learning and overall educational quality improvement. Dr. Luke maintains an active research program that focuses on participatory design and the application of innovative technologies in healthcare and education.en
